Hydel Plant Auxiliary Pump Automation
Drainage and dewatering pumps help manage water in sumps and auxiliary spaces when operated according to the plant procedure. PLC automation can select duty and standby pumps, use level feedback to request starts and stops, monitor motor protection status and alert operators when a pump fails to start or a level continues to rise. Automation scope depends on the equipment, operating sequence, existing controls and process requirements. Share the machine details and desired outcome to define a suitable control approach.
Start permissives and pump recovery
Document whether the level instrument is a continuous transmitter, discrete switches or both, and what happens when readings disagree. Define start proof, alarm delay, overload lockout, standby eligibility and manual reset. An operator should be able to see the sump level, selected duty pump, run state and reason a start was inhibited.
